New Sump Pit Excavation in Metairie
If your basement has never had a pump, we start by locating the low point where water collects. We saw cut the slab, excavate a pit roughly 18 to 24 inches wide and 24 to 30 inches deep, and set a perforated or solid liner depending on whether we are collecting groundwater or surface seepage. Gravel goes around the liner to help water flow in while keeping fine soil out. We then patch the slab flush with new concrete so the floor stays clean and level.
High-Capacity Sump Pump Solutions in Metairie, LA
For homes with serious groundwater issues or large basements, a standard sump pump may not be enough. Beau's Plumbing installs high-capacity sump pump systems designed to move larger volumes of water quickly and efficiently. These systems often feature more powerful motors and larger discharge lines. We conduct a thorough assessment of your property to recommend and install a system that can handle even the heaviest rainfall.
Submersible Sump Pump Installation in Metairie, LA
Submersible sump pumps sit directly in the sump pit, submerged in water, which makes them quieter and less intrusive. They are strong and effective for basements that take on a lot of water. Frequently Asked Questions About Basement Sump Pump Installation in Metairie
The cost of basement sump pump installation in Metairie typically ranges from $800 to $2,000, depending on the type of pump, the complexity of the installation and whether a new sump pit needs to be dug. Battery backup systems or long discharge line runs can affect the final price. We provide a detailed, upfront estimate after an on-site assessment.
Beau's Plumbing offers a comprehensive warranty on our basement sump pump installations, covering both parts and labor. The specific warranty period will be detailed in your service agreement. We stand behind our work and the quality of the products we install in your Metairie home.
A high water table means water has nowhere to go after big storms, which can flood yards, crawlspaces, and septic drain fields. Because storms and power outages tend to arrive together, a battery backup sump pump is strongly recommended. It provides crucial protection by switching on automatically when the main power fails, so your basement stays dry even without electricity. It is a wise investment for peace of mind.
Typically, standard home insurance policies do not cover a new sump pump installation or repairs unless the damage was caused by a sudden, accidental event like a burst pipe, rather than gradual wear and tear or groundwater seepage. Some policies offer separate water backup or sump pump failure endorsements for an additional premium. It is best to check with your insurance provider.
Most residential basements need a 1/3 or 1/2 horsepower pump, but the right answer depends on how fast water enters the pit and how high it has to be lifted. We measure both before recommending a model.
Discharge should go to your yard, a dry well or an approved drainage area at least 10 feet from the foundation. Connecting a sump pump to the sanitary sewer is generally not allowed by local codes.
Swapping a pump in an existing pit typically takes two to three hours. A new pit with slab cutting and concrete patching typically takes most of a day.
We routinely install Zoeller, Liberty Pumps and Wayne because they offer cast iron housings, reliable switches and good parts support. We will match the brand and model to your pit size and budget.
